The Abdication Micropub

With no music, screens or games in the micropub, the Abdication is a warm and welcoming place where ‘Beer is King’ and conversation is the order of the day...

The Abdication has been open since 2014 and offers a rotating selection of both cask and craft beers. Being an intimate micropub, it feels like someone’s converted front living room; however, as it’s opposite the Home Ales Brewing building, the venue is steeped in Nottingham brewing history.

They also brew their own beer. There’s no core range as they’re still experimenting, but previous brews have included a chocolate milk stout and a black IPA - all courtesy of Good Stuff Brewing.

  • Nottingham Pubs - book talk at The Abdication Micropub

    Wednesday 24 July 2019 19:00 - 20:00

We are delighted to welcome Dave Mooney to The Abdication. He'll be talking about his book, Nottingham Pubs, and treating us to a few songs. Join us for an informal evening, bar food and maybe even buy the book!

In his recently published book, Dave takes the reader on a fascinating journey through some of the city’s most interesting, oldest or most famous watering holes, following nine walks around different parts of Nottingham and nearby areas, including Kimberley, which was home to one of Britain’s largest independent breweries until its closure in 2006. Many of the pubs have retained features and traditions of previous ages, and the variety of Nottingham’s pubs today is revealed here, including the characters that have frequented or run the public houses, for which Nottingham is justly renowned.
